Founded: January 2025
Location: Harrison, Tennessee
Celtic Soccer Club was established in January 2025 in Harrison, TN, as a tribute to one of the most storied rivalries in global football history—the legendary competition between Celtic Football Club and Rangers Football Club of Scotland. This rivalry, born in 1888 just 25 years after the modern rules of soccer were codified in London, reflects not only a passionate sporting tradition but a deeper cultural and spiritual history that has shaped the identity of the game for over a century.
Our club name honors this rich legacy, rooted in the historical clash between Catholic and Protestant traditions in Glasgow, Scotland, which played out on the pitch through the iconic battles of the “Old Firm.” Celtic FC, traditionally representing the Catholic community, and Rangers FC, often associated with Protestant roots, developed a rivalry that transcended sport—yet we believe it also reveals the redemptive power of shared purpose and mutual respect when united under Christ.
Our Mission
Celtic Soccer Club is a Christian organization committed to developing athletes of character who compete at the highest level of soccer while modeling the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We believe in excellence through discipline, sportsmanship through humility, and leadership through service—on and off the field.
While we take inspiration from the fierce competitive spirit of our namesake clubs, we stand firm in our dedication to unifying athletes and families through the shared love of soccer, faith, and community. We see the sport as a powerful tool to teach perseverance, teamwork, grace under pressure, and unwavering commitment to a higher purpose.
Historical Inspiration
The game of soccer as we know it today began to take shape in 1863 with the formation of The Football Association in London, which built upon the Cambridge Rules drafted in 1848 at Cambridge University. These early frameworks helped establish the global game, making soccer the most beloved sport in the world. Celtic Soccer Club carries this heritage forward by cultivating a new generation of players who honor the game’s origins while striving to glorify God through their gifts.
We are proud to wear the name “Celtic” and represent a modern vision rooted in tradition, purpose, and faith.
